IV Sedation
We are happy to provide intravenous (IV) sedation to help you enjoy a more favorable dental experience. IV sedation is a great option if you experience stress or fear about visiting the dentist. The medication used will help you alleviate anxiety and promote relaxation without being under general anesthesia. Although you are not asleep throughout the procedure, the comfort and short-term memory loss can make you feel as though you’ve been sleeping.
Other Sedation Options
In some situations, IV sedation may not be necessary. Or, it may be most effective when combined with other sedation options. We are pleased to provide options such as:
- Localized anesthesia – does not put you to sleep but temporarily numbs the target treatment area.
- Nitrous gas – also known as laughing gas, is available if you experience a higher level of dental anxiety and simply need your nerves to be steadied.
- General anesthesia – puts you completely under and allows the surgeon to work efficiently while you are asleep. This is only offered at our local surgical hospital if needed.
